The worst aspect of heading to an exotic location after getting married is probably the time spent on honeymoon travels and the majority of couples have a story to tell about these travels. Although, a few may wait a day or so before heading out for their honeymoon, most newlyweds planning an excursion will take off the same night or the next morning. Typically, they will get a ride to the airport from a close friend or family member and then leave for their destination of choice straight away. When planes are delayed or bad weather cancels plans, honeymoon travels are put on hold and the couple just has to sit and wait.
Due to an increase in problems with honeymoon travels during certain times of the year many couples opt for destination weddings so that once the ceremony has ended they are already at their honeymoon location. Travelling a day or so before the wedding, traditionally held on a weekend, gives them a better chance of being where they want to be on time and not getting held up waiting in a crowded airport or train station.
There have been experiences during honeymoon travels where couples have had to spend several days waiting for a rescheduled flight due to bad weather and their ride to the airport may be repeated two or three times before they can actually get on a flight. In addition to the time delay of their honeymoon travels, they may also miss out on a few days at their destination and usually cannot receive a discount on the missed days at the location.
Proper Scheduling Can Reduce Stress
When a couple plans their wedding, honeymoon travels should be an important aspect of their impending trip. Common sense should prevail and if they are getting married at a time of year during which travel is habitually a problem, they should schedule their honeymoon travels for a less busy time.
It is no secret that holidays in December are some of the busiest travel days of the year and a wedding and honeymoon that is planned for that time of year, waiting a day or two to begin their honeymoon travels can make a huge difference in getting where they want to go. Weather, over scheduling and airport crowds will not grant the couple a hassle free pass just because they are on their honeymoon.
Making sure all necessary paperwork and identification is in order and readily accessible can help make honeymoon travels less stressful as well. Accidentally packing passports or flight tickets in a bag that has already been checked through by airlane security staff can definitely delay the trip for some time especially if the luggage is already on the plane.

“I want to share a gem that I came across. I did a wedding where the groom was in search of the perfect Mother and Son song. I made some suggestion but none were the “perfect fit” according to the groom. He then told me that he heard a song on the Internet that described he and his mother to the tee. He remembered the song title was “On This Day”. I told him that I would research and try and find the song if at all possible. With a little searching I found the song on YouTube. I then contacted the email address that was listed on the video and immediately someone got back to me! I want to step back to the point when I heard the song on Youtube. That is where the magic was! The song is hands down the best Mother and Son song I have EVER heard! To make a long story short, very impressed with how quickly the creators of the song got back to me. I then relayed to the songwriters my client’s wishes to use the song and inquired how to get it. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place! It actually was the first time I have every done anything similar to a “Love story” at a wedding. To add to the personal touch the writers of “On This Day”, Steve Zuccarello and Denise Christinzio provided me with an elegant binder that held the beautiful lyrics to the song with a special note that was hand written by them, (the writers) for the bride, groom and his mom. I am highly recommending this song because it’s a sure shot, slam-dunk mother and son hit! Once you hear it you will know what I am talking about!”
