There are so many honeymoon locations you can choose from today! The standard choices of Hawaii, Cancun, Jamaica, Fiji, Paris, Rome and Madrid are of course excellent options and offer some wonderful packages for brides and grooms, from first-class resorts to spas and ranches. But if you’re looking for honeymoon locations that are a bit more out of the way or unique, we have some suggestions and ideas for you.
If you love nature and are looking to enjoy some warm weather, what about staying on or near the Cherokee reservation in North Carolina? They have a large casino for those who want some indoors entertainment and a wealth of options for enjoying nature, since it’s nestled in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. Many outdoor honeymoon locations offer a beachfront, but if you’re more comfortable in the woods or forest, this may be the place for you. There is fishing, camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, horseback riding, and some amazingly beautiful sights. This area is especially beautiful during the autumn when the leaves change.
Other unexpected honeymoon locations may include Lake Tahoe in California or Denver in Colorado. These are great honeymoon locations for those that want to be outdoors skiing rather than indoors watching a movie. Who says you need to sit on the beach during your honeymoon? If you love to ski and enjoy other winter sports, either of these places may be for you.
Martha’s Vineyard may not immediately come to mind when thinking of honeymoon locations, but consider how beautiful and quaint this New England island is, complete with captain’s houses, lighthouses, white picket fences, old-fashioned ice cream shops, and fishing villages that look as if they’ve stepped out of a history book. You can walk around the town, shop, bike, enjoy a seaside stroll, or just relax in any of their many beautiful hotels or bed and breakfast establishments. As a matter of fact, any of the New England states are great honeymoon locations during the summer but especially in the autumn when the hills of Vermont and Maine are bursting with color.
The national parks in the U.S. also may not come to mind when considering honeymoon locations, but many have beautiful and luxurious lodges, bed and breakfast establishments, and hotels that cater to honeymooners. You can hike the Grand Canyon in Arizona, Yellowstone in California, or the Grand Tetons in Wyoming. Each national park offers something different and unique just to itself, so whatever you’re looking for by way of scenery or activities, don’t rule these out as unique honeymoon locations.
Of course, choosing from unexpected and unique honeymoon locations may call for some imagination on your part. If you could go anywhere or see anything, where and what would that be? What’s one place that you and your fiancĂ©e would love to see as a couple? What do you enjoy doing - going to loud nightclubs or going fishing? Pay attention to your own preferences and you’ll choose the location that’s perfect for you.
